With only a few weeks to go until the Henley Royal Regatta 2017, Vale Prestige thought it would be a good idea to put together an ultimate guide for our many clients that are attending. The Henley Royal Regatta 2017 will be another stunning event that promises, as always, to be the highlight of Britain’s social and sporting calendar! So dust of your blazers and put the champagne on ice because, ladies and gentlemen, the Henley Royal Regatta 2017 is just around the corner.
First things first
Whether you’re embarking on your ‘maiden voyage’ or you’re a seasoned professional, it’s always best to plan you day in advance. Plan your travel well in advance and ensure you book that return journey – the Henley Royal Regatta will, as always, be very busy with thousands of revellers ascending on Henley-On-Thames for this weekend extravaganza – the roads will be busy and Henley has a complex one-way system, so expect to spend some time in the car. But if you are planning to book a car, don’t be shy to travel in style, book early and get yourself a chauffeur for the day and make the most of the multiple Champagne tents that are on site.
Regardless of the regatta being the most prestigious social event of the summer, the Great British weather holds no prisoners. So be sure to plan for all weather eventualities, from boiling sunshine to torrential rain, no doubt mother nature will have something unexpected in store.
Eating is certainly not cheating
If you’re planning to buy yourself a riverside picnic this year, we strongly recommend to pre-book. Unfortunately, you won’t be the only people to have the idea so booking early will avoid the queues on this occasion. Or if you’re looking to dine in style and comfort, you’re in luck – The Henley Royal Regatta 2017 offering a variety of different hospitality options, Fawley Meadows, Riverside Chalets and Temple Island are all available to book. Each offers a five course lunch and complimentary drinks all day – on top of this, each hospitality tent is situated in the prime position to watch the races throughout the day. Just keep in mind that each hospitality tent has a strict dress code that all visitors must adhere to.
The main event
Now, the most important aspect of the day, the boat races. With over 200 races taking place over the weekend, the races start at dawn and go on until dusk so prepare for a long day. The timetable for the races won’t be decided until the day before (27th June 2017) so if you’re interested make sure you check the website regularly for updates. The races themselves are 550 yards long, so in order to see the start line, it might be a good idea to bring a pair of binoculars. But most of all, enjoy the day!
